Scholarly Publishing Teahouse

Hello LaGuardia faculty,logo

While the Library is working to support your students, don’t forget that we’re here for you as well.

Faculty and staff can email us or make an appointment to talk if you have particular questions related to scholarly publishing. You might want to know what a Creative Commons license is, whether a journal you’ve found is one of those “predatory journals,” or how to find a journal to publish in to begin with. If we don't know the answer, we'll help you find someone who does.

This Spring 2024, we begin a monthly podcast "Teahouse Chats" on scholarly publishing and communication topics. The latest episode is on this guide and you'll find more on the podcast website.

We look forward to helping you move forward with your scholarly publication efforts.

Stay healthy and happy publishing,

Supporting Your Online Courses

Our instruction program is transitioning to delivering library classes fully online, where we’ll teach our usual one hour in all ENG101/103 and FYS classes. These classes will be taught by librarians, who will answer questions through Blackboard, email, chat, web conferencing software, and/or instructional videos. If you teach one of these classes, a librarian will reach out to you to discuss options. If you want to request library instruction for another class, please email teachinglibrary@lagcc.cuny.edu.

  2. When prompted to login, use your 16-digit LaGuardia ID barcode.
  3. Click on "Full Text Online" from the left-hand column to narrow results to online sources.
  4. Use other left-column filters to further narrow your search.
  5. Click on the "Permalink" button to generate the link

    • It may appear with a play button in the middle of the screen; if so, this is a film that LaGuardia Library already subscribes to; simply share the full URL of that page in Blackboard
    • If there's no play button, and you see the message "LaGuardia Community College -- City University of New York doesn't offer [title of film] right now," you can fill out the request form there.
  • Viewers will need to log in with their 16-digit LaGuardia ID barcode. Kanopy films can be viewed on smart phones, tablets, laptops or smart TVs.
