Lesson Plan with Stacks activity

  1. Have this chart up on the board: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IrSUnkwvrFA/U0fh5iqNgrI/AAAAAAAAE9E/tCYl0O-832E/s1600/LoCongress.jpg and this timer: https://www.google.com/search?q=20+minutes+timer&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1-ab
  2. Inform students the end of days is here and the Internet has collapsed, leaving them with no catalog. Tell them they must go into the stacks, without asking a librarian or using the catalog, to find a book which will help them survive. Inform them they have 15 minutes before the zombie horde enters the stacks. They must bring back a book before the timer (15 minutes)
  3. Invite students to talk about what they found and how they found it (10 minutes)
