Instruction module for CUNY OneSearch. Demonstrates how to do a basic search using OneSearch features.

What Is OneSearch? How Do I Use It Effectively?

During one hour Library session students will learn how to:

  • use OneSearch to search in one place for books, articles, DVDs, CDs, and more.
  • narrow a search using OneSearch's custom tools.

Using OneSearch

Location: Computer Lab during Studio Hour

 

Introduction:

By using OneSearch, you can search the library's resources (i.e., databases, books, media, etc.) at one time. Better than Google, OneSearch will provide you with vetted, reliable, and accurate sources for your research.

 

This session will result in students gaining hands-on experience working with a research tool.

There are two options for the instructor: 

  1.  you can review the slides and then have students complete the exercise, or
  2. have students begin the exercise and then form into think/pair/share groups to review the results.
