The Question of Indigeneity

  • The question of indigeneity is difficult in a cosmopolitan entrepôt

  • Ultimately, demographic figures for each time period would be ideal, but those records are not extant

  • In looking at the ruling party of each time period, this does not account for various levels of autonomy, governorship, etc. allowed to local populations

  • The Bible alone is not a historical source
